Bayridge Sports was founded in late 2018 by the experienced sports executive Jon Long. He operates the business in a collaborative manner, drawing in expertise relevant to each project brief on a case-by-case basis.
Jon was a member of the leadership team at the International Cricket Council for over a decade and the organisation’s first Head of Strategy. The project leader for two four-year strategic cycles, he was instrumental in introducing a culture of insight, goal-setting and measurement at the ICC and across the wider sport.
He managed key strategic and commercial initiatives including international planning for Twenty20 cricket, a $US 15m targeted investment programme for National Governing Bodies, the growth plan for women’s cricket and an integrated digital strategy for the sport.
He also helped many national cricket federations develop their strategic, commercial and development plans and represented the ICC at key policy-making forums including the IOC, WADA, GAISF and ARISF.
Subsequent to this he was Managing Director of Nielsen Sports (formerly Repucom) where his team provided fan insight, media measurement and market intelligence to over 150 sports rights owners and brands including FIFA, the Premier League, Formula 1, World Rugby, Red Bull, Emirates, HSBC and Sky Sports.
He holds a Law with European Law degree from the University of Nottingham and Université de Bretagne Occidentale and an MBA (with distinction) from the University of Warwick.
As well as running Bayridge Sports, Jon serves as the Chair of British Canoeing Events and is currently authoring a postgraduate sports marketing module for a major UK-based University. In recent years he has lectured on marketing, strategy and governance in sport in Europe, the Middle East and India.
He is also proud to serve as a consultant to the Dublin-headquartered sports sponsorship consultancy, ONSIDE, and advisor to the cricket simulator company, BatFast.
